"Smigiel, who grew up in Norfolk, makes the case that no one can help solve the issues in the city's schools like an educator who knows them intimately…our nod goes to Smigiel, based on his longevity in Norfolk and his passion for public education, which could certainly use it."

Dear Neighbors,

Welcome to the Tommy Smigiel for City Council official campaign web site! It’s time for a change, and you can elect a representative that will move our community in the right direction. As a lifetime resident of Norfolk, I understand our community and I am ready to serve you as your next City Councilman.

I am running for City Council because I believe that city hall has lost touch with the issues that affect our community the most. As I talk to my neighbors, I hear the same message: city government is disconnected from the people. We need a representative on City Council who understands the issues facing our community. We have a right to a city government we can trust - one with restored integrity that provides the neighborhood services that are essential to our quality of life.

As a community activist I have fought to make Norfolk a better place to live. As a dedicated educator, I have worked to motivate our young people to reach success. My experiences have taught me to listen to the people I serve. I will be a leader who will listen and be accessible to his constituents. It is time to bring city government back to the people. If elected, I pledge to be honest and accountable to you and to the concerns that matter most to Ward 5 and Norfolk. I look forward to meeting you, and listening to your ideas as I walk Ward 5 in the next few months. I appreciate your consideration and your vote on May 4th.

Sincerely yours,

Tommy Smigiel
